Newark, NJ based artist Alley Rocket just dropped off the deluxe version to his project ‘Apollo Boy‘. Only starting to take his craft seriously a few years ago, the 23 year old artist brings something new to the table. The 12-track project finds Alley Rocket embracing his lifestyle and reflecting on personal life experience. Boasting instrumentals that range from trap to drill to rage, the project is truly versatile with sounds fit for all ears. Laced with infectious hooks across a wide variety of beats, ‘Apollo Boy‘ is both experimental and effective.
“I took time and traveled while making this tape – to me it is some of my best work.” – Alley Rocket on the cultivation of his latest release.
The track that stands out most to me is definitely “Stimmy”. The instrumental is absolutely insane, seamlessly transitioning from drill to Jersey club back to drill all in under two minutes. Subsequently, the switch up really just makes you want to throw whatever device you’re using to stream the song. On “Cadet“, Alley is able to really flex his vocal range. The project also features Alley’s label mate Nick Straight on “Okay LiL“, where the two show off their nonchalant chemistry. Overall, ‘Apollo Boy‘ is an enjoyable listen throughout, and I definitely recommend checking it out in its’ entirety!
