Queens artist Chengslate is back with a new joint titled “Bread. Cream. Juice”. The 28 year old Hong Kong-native channels many different sides of him on his latest EP, ‘Aftermath Start’, with this track dialing up the bravado and creating a powerful anthem laced with vocal switch ups and confident bars. Chengslate takes influence from a plethora of artists, including the likes of Kanye West, Mac Miller, and Arctic Monkeys, but he truly is one of one. The versatility just from track to track off of this 6-song EP proves that the ceiling is high for Chengslate.
On “Bread. Cream. Juice”, Chengslate effortlessly flows over a cinematic, sample-based instrumental with bold horns and graceful strings; however, even with the elaborate production, Chengslate is the star of the show. The track is a feel-good ego boost following a relationship’s end with bars focusing on his triumph over struggle, wrapping up the EP perfectly. The chorus is in your face in the best way possible, and the energy switches in the verses are timed quite well. Chengslate’s relayed to us that his next project is 85% done, and if the songs on there are even half as good as “Bread. Cream. Juice”, the project will be a sure hit; be on the lookout for it!
