Alabama’s own Deucee just released his new EP, ‘Self Aware‘. Complete with an inspiring backstory, infectious hooks, and hard-hitting production, Deucee provides an interesting look into his life. The project has only one feature, from hometown native Lil COOP, along with production from Fluseph and OSOGRIEF. The record benefits from this, getting a more cohesive feel overall vibe-wise and production-wise. It’s hard to believe music wasn’t his first love. But all of the world’s greats go through something that pushes them to strive harder.
“Growing up I had the dream of following my dad’s footsteps and playing Division I basketball. I was also a hell of a pitcher, however, my sports career was cut short. Due to multiple tumors located all around my brain, I ended up having multiple brain surgeries that eventually left me paralyzed, but I worked my ass off to walk again.” – Deucee on his origins
The upbeat production and spacey vibes are nothing like the trials and tribulations Deucee took to get to this point. It’s exciting to see that even though he started music at age 13, he’s still going strong at 19 and has progressed incredibly. Someday you’ll be hearing his music at the baseball games he used to want to be pitching in, and if you want to hop on Deucee’s metaphorical wave you won’t regret it. Stream his new EP below, and be on the lookout for new music from him!
