“As promised, here’s a gift to you for my birthday.” -BADMON
Brooklyn rapper Joey Badass blessed us with a timeless classic to celebrate his birthday. “Let It Breathe” produced by Statik Selektah dropped today and was accompanied with a music video co-directed by Joey, Levi Turner, and Waqas Ghani that they shot last night! Beginning with a jazzy intro, Joey comes in with his beautiful lyrical flow offering an introspective view on his career to date, from the highs to the lows. Making it known that he knows his worth and is getting better and better. The instrumental beat gives the classic R&B/soul feeling that meshes with his flow in an ineffable way.
The early 2000s rap music video influence seen in visuals of the video really give “Let It Breathe” that timeless effect that connects to the instrumental R&B/soul beat. Taking place in Brooklyn, the clips feature Joey riding in a helicopter over New York, his friends, his car, and so much more. You must see it yourself! He’s been relatively low-key in recent times, but with this long awaited release he let fans know that he was coming through with something. And this promise made the wait all the better and so worth it. Excited for and can’t wait to see what’s next to come… hopefully an album.
Happy Birthday BADMON
